FAQ

What is an organic (or organic) cosmetic?
An organic (or organic) product contains a defined amount of natural or naturally derived ingredients from organic farming, the quantity is different depending on the certification body (from 90% to 100%). The processing of the ingredients must be as respectful as possible of their source of origin and the environment. All elements of the packaging must be made of recyclable material.
What is a natural cosmetic?
A natural product contains a defined amount of natural ingredients or of natural origin. The quantity present may be different for each certifying body. The processing of the ingredients must be as respectful as possible of their source of origin and of the environments.
What are certifications?
To be certified natural or organic, the products must be approved by a control body, often at an international level, which certifies their quality by affixing a logo. The various certifications guarantee the consumer with respect to the quality of the ingredients used, the cultivation and extraction process of the individual ingredients, and the components of the packaging. Below is a summary of the main ones:

USDA Organic is the certification of the United States Department of Agriculture.
It certifies products that have a content of organic ingredients between 95% and 100%. Products that contain between 70% and 94% of organic ingredients instead have the mandatory label “Made with Organic Ingredients”, and further restrictions regarding the remaining percentage.

Soil Association Organic is the UK’s leading certifying company. It certifies products that have a content of organic ingredients between 95% and 100% (the old label is being replaced with the new one). Products that contain between 70% and 94% organic ingredients must clearly specify the percentage, and have further restrictions regarding the remaining percentage.

Ecocert is the French inspection and certification body. It certifies products that have a content of organic ingredients between 95% and 100%. Synthetic additives must not exceed 5% and are selected by a specification.

Na True is a certification promoted by some of the major manufacturers of natural cosmetics. It certifies totally natural products (or with an organic component) and organic products (with a content of organic ingredients between 95% and 100%) that comply with a long series of requirements in the origin of the components, in the processing and in the packaging.

Vegan Society is a UK charity that promotes and supports the Vegan lifestyle, paying particular attention to clinical tests on animals and environmental damage.

Why use an organic or natural cosmetic?
Several scientific studies have shown that human skin absorbs up to 60% of the substances it comes into contact with. On average, a woman absorbs up to 2 kg of chemical agents every year from the daily use of cosmetics and detergents. Natural and organic cosmetics do not contain: – Petroleum derivatives – SLES – Parabens – Colorants of synthetic origin – GMOs – Phthalates
Are all the products for sale on The Beautyaholic's Shop website certified?
No, not all of them. Certified products are clearly identifiable by the logo of the certification body affixed next to the product image or explicitly indicated in the product description. In the selection of The Beautyaholic’s Shop, non-certified products are also available but produced by companies that, in our opinion, pay particular attention to quality (high percentages of ingredients of natural and organic origin), respect for the environment (recyclable packaging, processes zero impact production), do not test their products on animals.
Are the ingredients listed in the “Active Ingredients” section all the components that make up the product?
No, this section highlights only the components that, due to their properties, characterize the product (fragrance, effectiveness, consistency). The complete list of components is detailed in the INCI section or in any case always clearly displayed on the product packaging.
